OF News Trinity 2018

The Warden Writes…

We have just sent the pupils off to enjoy a well-deserved long holiday after another very successful, productive year at Forest.

In the last few days of this term we have had a run of wonderful events: Sports Day, Charity Afternoon, Commemoration Day, Y13 Leavers’ Ball, Art Exhibition, ‘Around the World in 80 Days’ and the Summer Concert, not to mention all the usual Prep School end of year events; every day there has been cricket on the Square, and dinners and parties in the evenings too. It has been wonderful to see so many visitors, parents and Old Foresters at School enjoying watching performances or celebrating their sons’ and daughters’ achievements. Each occasion has once again made palpable the busy and friendly nature of the School. You may also like to know that this week’s Charity Afternoon, comprising a huge range of stalls and activities run by the pupils, made £3,000 for Great Ormond Street Hospital.

Every pupil has had an appointment in the course of the year to meet with a member of the Leadership Team and I have thoroughly enjoyed my share of these meetings with pupils from different year groups to discuss their progress. Academic studies remain at the very heart of life at Forest and the pupils have clearly achieved a considerable amount. They have become even better learners in the process.

I continue to be impressed – and exhausted! – by the scale and variety of life at Forest. Every lesson, every activity, every trip (many of which take our pupils far beyond the gates of Forest) throughout the year gives pupils opportunities to learn about themselves and others in all kinds of different contexts. However, I hope they will all switch off from School now and enjoy a summer away from the pressure of hard work, recharging their batteries and having some well-deserved fun in the process.

I do hope that you enjoy this Trinity Term edition of the OF News and have a good summer.

Save the date!

This year our Forest School Network Event is on the 15th October at PwC’s 1 Embankment Place offices. Come and join our network of OFs and parents and make new contacts over nibbles and drinks. With Kevin Ellis, OF, Senior Partner & Chairman as our welcome speaker, followed by Lisa Unwin, businesswoman and author of “She’s Back” as our guest speaker, the evening promises to be productive and insightful. Emails with the booking form attached will be sent out at the end of the summer so make sure we have your up-to-date contact details!
